Amy Ruth Tan is an American author known for the novel The Joy Luck Club, which was adapted in 1993 into a film of the same name by director Wayne Wang. Tan has written a number of other novels, including Kitchen God's Wife, The Hundred Secrets of the Senses, The Daughter of Bonesetter, Saving Fish from Drowning, and Valley of Surprise. Tan's latest book is a memoir titled Where the Past Begins: A Writer's Memoirs. In addition to these books, Tan also wrote two children's books: The Moon Lady and Sagwa, Chinese Siamese Cat, which were made into a series of animated series aired on PBS.
