She is known for appearing in the films Khoa, She is all; But I'm a cheerleader; Girl, Interrupt, Identity, 21 grams, The Grudge, Zodiac, Conviction and Argo. On television, she played Sofie in Carnivàle, Audrey Hanson in Heroes, Wendy Peyser in American Horror Story: Asylum, Emma Borden in The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Marjorie in Veep, and Sylvia in The Handmaid's Tale. In 2016, DuVall debuted with The Intervention, which she wrote and co-produced. She co-wrote and directed the romantic comedy Happhest Season in 2020 .
