Rainn Dietrich Wilson is an American actor, comedian, writer and producer. He is best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the NBC sitcom The Office, which won three consecutive Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Originally from Seattle, Wilson began acting at the University of Washington, then worked in theater in New York City after graduating in 1986. Wilson made his film debut in Galaxy Quest, followed by sub-episodes in The Virtually Famous, The Full Frontal of Steven Soderbergh and the house of 1000 bodies. He also had a recurring role as Arthur Martin on the HBO Six Feet Under series from 2003 to 2005. Since 2018, he starred as Trevor on the CBS Mom sitcom. Wilson was cast as Dwight Schrute in The Office in 2005, a role he played until the series ended in 2013. The film's other credits include lead roles in comedy The Rocker and Super, as well as supporting roles in the horror films Cooties and The Son.
