James "Jimmi" Harkishin is an English actor known for his role as businessman Dev Alahan in the film Coronation Street, which he has played continuously since November 10, 1999. He also played the role of Ranjit in the movie Bhaji on the Beach and Iyaaz Ali Khan in the East is Bid Harkishin as Gary Lobo in the episode "Danse Macabre" by Jonathan Creek. Harkishin was born in Paris, France, to an Indian father, Deepak and an Italian mother, Soni. He started acting in 1986 under the stage name James Harkishin and played the usual characters of Jose Cuervo in 18 episodes from 1990 to 1993 in the children's television series Uncle Jack.
